About
What is NASA India?
The National Association of Students of Architecture (NASA India), established in 1957, stands as one of the largest and oldest student-run architectural bodies in Asia. It was formed to create a unified platform for architecture students across India — one that operates parallel to formal education, yet deeply complements it.
NASA is not an academic institution, nor is it bound by a fixed curriculum. Instead, it functions as an open, evolving network that encourages students to explore architecture beyond the constraints of classrooms, syllabi, and evaluation systems. It promotes a culture where experimentation, discourse, and critical thinking become central to learning.
At its core, NASA connects hundreds of architecture colleges, enabling students from diverse geographic, cultural, and academic backgrounds to engage in a shared dialogue — fostering exchange of regional design perspectives, exposure to alternative approaches, and the development of a collective architectural consciousness.
Our Connection
NASA India & MSSA
At Mohamed Sathak School of Architecture (MSSA), NASA acts as a critical extension of architectural education. It enables students to engage with a wider national network — participating in design competitions, conventions, and collaborative events that challenge conventional thinking and studio boundaries.

Organisation
Structure of NASA India
Level 01
Unit Level
Each participating college forms a NASA Unit, led by student representatives. They coordinate participation in NASA events, organise internal activities, and act as the primary link between students and NASA.
Level 02
Zone Level
India is divided into regional zones, each grouping multiple colleges. Zonal Representatives coordinate inter-college activities, facilitate communication between units and national leadership, and organise zonal events.
Level 03
National Level
At the top is the National Council, composed of elected student representatives. They oversee national conventions, policy decisions, and overall coordination between all zones across India.
